The secret to all that was lost.

There was this little boy who distrusted everyone at school because they were good at only two things : Spreading rumours and Making fun of anyone who had an opinion.

He grew up to detest people. Things started to change when the little boy started his life on the Internet.
Everyone was so friendly and it seemed hard for him to digest the fact that people could actually, for a change, be nice. Pretty soon his life enabling scenario changed from real to virtual as he headed on to make newer friends who he thought understood him.

He passes out of school with a relief and goes to college to meet an awesome and friendly guy. Pretty soon, he finds the entire college buzzing around as his friends. He smiles. This is different he thinks as he plods his way through first year. Being loved and loving in return.

Things take a nasty turn in second year, with varied interests and influences ruining the serenity of yesterday. Drawn in by the tide, the sandcastle built by the friends loses its compound first, and eventually the royal chambers are taken in by the swelling waves. Everything was ripped apart.

Slowly steadily, the work restarted and this time a modest house was in place as the friends decreased in number. Online friends seemed to grow closer and the bond tighter. He wished they were with him. Righy by his side throughout. They were his blackbook The only people who seemed to care throughout. The past, the Present and the Future.

Enter University. Everything so real.
The boy had a secret and he could not tell it out. It was to be forgotten and new life was to be spawned.

The friends grew in number, not so close yet friends. Picking of select friends like the picking of mangoes in an orchard. Satisfied with his fruit basket, he smiled. It was a rare pick, he was proud. What he forgot was his secret.

His friends grew closer and then stopped. Something alike to the attraction between 2 nucleons in a nucleus. Too near, they repel.. Too far they don't work.. Wishing they were closer, he wanted to ask of them why they won't talk of their afflictions with him?

A smiling image of himself appeared before him and asked, "Why would they tell something to someone who has hidden his share of secrets and feigns normalcy?"

Anguish, was all he felt.
Wanting the thickest of friendship was what he wished.
It was lost, for he had stopped to say half of what he had known.
He could only stare at the apparition.
The secret had reared its ugly head and taken back what he truly cared about.
He was no longer to be trusted.
He was back in school only this time, he detested himself.

Interesting. I think that friendships of the closeness desired are very rare, even more so among a group. Possible perhaps, but then everything changes.
extremely relatable.
And i have a hunch i know this fellow? ;) You dont know how perfectly i can relate to this post. this is so beautiful, its the voice of truth, gautam!! no matter how hard you try...life sometimes becomes the school. my school was a nightmare too. friendhless...similar experiences as the boy who was forgotten. Thank you for this post. It makes me go back and think for myself. somewhere, your stories can be somebody else's stories too.
it's beautiful.
I guess your article mostly depicts most of us out there. It brought back some of my fond memories and some not-so-fond ones also. Good one and intellectually thought provoking making one come face to face with the inside ghosts.

I'd like to quote lines from a song, as absurd as it may sound.

" Here I am - this is me
There's no where else on earth I'd rather be
Here I am - it's just me and you
And tonight we make our dreams come true

It's a new world - it's a new start
It's alive with the beating of young hearts
It's a new day - it's a new plan
I've been waiting for you
Here I am ... "

Makes any sense? :)
